William Moon

Mr. William “Bill” C. Moon age 75 of Houston, Texas, entered this life on March 24, 1948 in Fort Baker, California with his twin sister Rory. He grew up in the path of a military father moving from place to place: Meade, Kansas, Fort Riley, Kansas, Mineral Wells, Texas, and then Killeen, Texas where he graduated from Killeen High School class of 1966. Was inducted in the US Army. Was trained to be a Cannon Crew member in Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Later served his country with a tour in Vietnam where he earned the Vietnam Service Medal/Vietnam Campaign Medal/Vietnam Gallantry Medal w/palm as an artillery man. Was a drill instructor in Fort Ord, California, an Instructor and recruiter at the West Point Military Academy in West Point, New York. Bill met his wife in Aschaffenburg, Germany as both were serving overseas tours. He retired from the military in 1990 in Illinois, achieving the rank of 1st Sergeant. Then moving to Madison, Indiana where he worked. Furthered his education at IU Southeast earning a BS degree in General Studies. Was involved in the Madison Regatta where he earned the nickname “The Fuel Man”. After retiring for the second time, he enjoyed being a grandpa and helping raise his two grandsons Quentin and Myles in Madison, Indiana. He moved back to Houston, Texas where he made it his home. He will be remembered for his eclectic gifts, his generosity, and his silent but strong demeanor. Bill passed away Friday May 12 at 8:45 p.m. in Houston, Texas surrounded by loved ones.

William “Bill” C. Moon was preceded in death by his parents: Eugene & Alice Moon, and 2 brothers: Dean R. Moon and J.J. Moon. He is Survived by his son, Eugene R. and wife Marlene Moon and grandchildren of Madison, Indiana; wife, Pamela Moon and children of Madison, Indiana; brothers, Donald and wife Shelia Moon of Katy, Texas; Quimby and wife Shelly Moon of Lampasas, Texas; sisters, Doris Chambers, children and grandchildren of Midlothian, Texas; Rory and husband Charlie Edge, children and grandchildren of Houston, Texas; Jill and husband George Allen, children and grandchildren of Hillsboro, Texas as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

He will be interred with full military honors befitting a retiree at the National Veterans Cemetery in Houston, Texas on June 2, 2023 at 12:45pm.
