Randy Jew

November 21, 1962 — December 26, 2021

Houston

Randy Ming Jew was born on November 21, 1962 in Houston to Ming Shuit (Taylor) and Pui Yung (Ann) Jew. Sadly, his life was cut short after a courageous battle with covid   He was raised and lived in Houston.  Being the son of Chinese immigrants, he shared in the responsibility of working in the family businesses (grocery store, florist and BBQ restaurant).  He graduated from Jersey Village High School in 1981 and later attended SW Texas State before embarking on a lifelong journey of personal entrepreneurship.  On his journey, he was one of the original founders of the Austin Java Company, a startup with a few college friends in the day, he would go on with other friends to look at sustainable, economical housing for delivery to third world countries and as of late enjoyed his passion to connect US supply interest with Chinese sources.  He traveled extensively in his later life, having gone to multiple countries in SW Asia (China, Philippines, Malaysia, Cambodia, Thailand, Singapore), in Europe (Spain, Italy, France, England, The Netherlands and throughout Central America (Costa Rica, Honduras, El Salvador).  He certainly enjoyed his time in Houston with days spent on his other passions - hunting, fishing, mountain biking and thrifting at the local Goodwill.  Time and resources permitting, he worked on his project cars starting with his 69 Mustang Mach 1 to his recent Honda Civic SI.

He lived a fulfilling life and will be remembered by many as a free spirit who lived life on his terms, his way.  Our lives have been touched by him and his connections with people over the years are many (with many becoming lifelong friends.)

Randy is preceded in death by his father, Ming Shuit Jew and is survived by his mother Pui Yung Jew, his older brother Dany (Cathy), two nephews David Jew (Rachel) and Bryan Jew (Sarah) and numerous aunts, cousins and friends.

Thank you for all the prayers these past few weeks.

Private services to be held over the next weeks and a celebration of life / memorial to be planned for a later date.  In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Randy to: Texas Parks & Wildlife Foundation (tpwf.org) a charity that supported his love of the outdoors, or Goodwill Industries of Houston (goodwill houston.org) a charity that was important to him is appreciated.
