James Driskell

August 2, 1963 — June 22, 2021

Jamie (James Kevin) Driskell

James Kevin Driskell was born August 2, 1963, to Gerald John and Betty Driskell in Houston, Texas. He passed away on June 22, 2021 at the age of 57. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Timothy Leland Driskell. Jamie was survived by his brothers, David, Michael and Jon Driskell, who will deeply miss him; his daughter, Lexi Ann Christian; his life partner and love, Judy Ann Bean; her children, who Jamie adopted in his heart as his own, Nicholas Shaffer, Brandon Torres, Chelsea Leigh Ann Torres; adopted grandchildren, Seth Torres and Lucy Torres; and loving mother-in-law, Mary Joe Sewell.

He was the youngest of five sons. The Driskell family lived in Gulf Meadows, in southeast Houston, and Jamie went to school at Mitchell Elementary and J. Frank Dobie High School.

Whoever knew Jamie knew that he was one of the sweetest, kindest persons you would ever have the privilege to meet. In fact, his mother in law said it best, “Jamie was one of the kindest and sweetest people I have ever had the pleasure to have in my life. He was a wonderful husband, daddy, grandpa, son-in-law, and friend. He was always so kind and loving. He was a marvelous guitarist and a master carpenter. Jamie was also a very hard worker.”

Jamie had a lifelong passion for guitar and surfing. He excelled at guitar and played in numerous local bands around the Houston/Galveston area. He supplemented his passion by working as a carpenter/painter. By doing that he learned how to repair anything around the house. In fact, one of his grandchildren saw a broken drawer and said, “Grandpa Jamie can fix it, he can fix anything!” He put his woodworking skills to use building, repairing and refinishing guitars. Jamie had a gift of fine-tuning problems with any guitar, and made them work better than new.

“We love you, Jamie. Fly high with the angels.

Love,

Judy, Nicholas, Brandon, Chelsea, Seth, Lucy, and Mary Joe”
