Obituary for Isabel Mutis

Loved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Isabel Mutis died at the age of 83 in the morning of September 25, 2021, in the comfort of her home in Houston, TX. At the time of her death, she was surrounded by loved ones who will always remember her strength, determination, and generous spirit.

Isabel was born in Colombia in 1938. Daughter of Jorge Mutis Escobar and Julia Francisca Vargas. She married and had four children. She was a proud businesswoman, cancer survivor, and later in life moved to the United States to take part of her children and grandchildren's lives. Some of the passions in her life included traveling, swimming, and cooking. Isabel loved to enjoy the company of both friends and family. One of her greatest achievements was to become a United States citizen at the age of 69. Later in life she was fortunate enough to enjoy the birth of her great grandchildren.

Isabel was survived by her four children; daughter, Isabel Ahearn and husband Ralph, sons, Fernando Garciaherreros and his wife Hilda Maria, Daniel Garciaherreros and his wife Aura, Jorge Garciaherreros, her grandsons Matthew and wife Chazelle, Phillip and wife Morgan, Jorge Andres, Fabian, granddaughter Aimee, and her great grandchildren Grayson, Remi, and Brecken. She also is survived by her ex-husband Jorge A. Garciaherreros. Isabel leaves behind her sister Pilar Mutis, brother Jorge Mutis and wife Miriam. Along with nephews, Carlos Vargas, Jose Leon Vargas, as well as her nieces Maria Eugenia, Claudia, Clemencia,

Maayan, and Maria Catalina. As the family matriarch, Isabel will be greatly missed.

On Friday, October 8th 2021, at 3pm (CT) a mass will be held in honor of Isabel Mutis's life. The ceremony will be held in Cartagena, Colombia at Parroquia Santa Cruz de Manga. Adorada mamá, abuela y bisabuela, Isabel Mutis murió a la edad de 83 años, el 25 de septiembre de 2021 en su hogar en Houston, TX.. Isabel murió rodeada de sus seres queridos quienes siempre recordarán su fortaleza, determinación y espíritu generoso.

Isabel nació en Colombia en 1938. Hija de Jorge Mutis Escobar y Julia Francisca Vargas. Isabel tuvo 4 hijos. Fue ganadera, sobreviviente de cáncer y finalmente se trasladó a los Estados Unidos para vivir y compartir con sus hijos y nietos. Algunas de sus pasiones fueron la natación, los viajes y la cocina. Isabel disfruto siempre de la compañía de sus amigos y familia. Uno de sus grandes logros fue convertirse en ciudadana Americana a la edad de 69 años. Tuvo la fortuna de tener y disfrutar de sus bisnietos.

Sus bisnietos Grayson, Remi y Brecken. Es sobrevivida por su ex-marido Jorge A. Garciaherreros. Isabel deja a su hermana Pilar Mutis, hermano Jorge Mutis y esposa Miriam. Sus sobrinos Carlos Vargas, Jose Leon Vargas y sus sobrinas Maria Eugenia, Claudia, Clemencia, Maayan y Maria Catalina. Isabel, fue la matriarca de la familia y será profundamente extrañada.

El viernes, 8 de octubre de 2021 a las 3 de la tarde se celebrará una misa en honor de Isabel Mutis. La ceremonia se celebrará en Cartagena, Colombia en la parroquia Santa Cruz de Manga.
