Emiliano Herrera Iii

February 15, 1983 — March 27, 2023

Emiliano Herrera III was born on February 15, 1983, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and returned peacefully to our Lord, surrounded by family and friends on March 27, 2023 at his home in Houston, Texas.

Emiliano attended St Pius X High School in Albuquerque and followed his passion for service, earning his Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and Catholic Studies from the University of St. Thomas in Houston, TX. His interest in community leadership and immigration-focused service, led him to pursue his Master's in Social Work from the University of Houston.

Emiliano spent the next 17 years refining his craft as a licensed clinical social worker through counseling, case management, community outreach and mentorship. Emiliano was a board certified LCSW-S and shared his gifts working with Neighborhood Centers Inc, Harris Health, Spring Spirit, Spring Branch Community Health Center, and most recently as Behavioral Therapist at Katy Teen & Family Counseling-always working hard toward his dream of opening his own practice.

While in Houston, Emiliano fell in love with Leyva Ann Olivares. They married soon after and were blessed with four beautiful children, Emi, Maggie, Luca and Zelie.

It was easy to see that Emiliano's greatest joy was Family. He enthusiastically supported Leyva in educating their children at home, always jumping in head-first into the lessons - whether donning elaborate Halloween costumes, carving pinewood derby cars, cheering on at swim meets, cooking traditional Mexican dishes or embarking on spontaneous family adventures. Emiliano led by example at home and in his community. He was a passionate leader in Boy Scouts of America and Prince of Peace Catholic Community. He shared his unforgettable smile, unique sense of humor, and incredible joie de vivre with everyone.

He is survived by his wife, Leyva Herrera; his children, Emiliano IV (15), Magdalena Teresa (13), Luca Valentin (9), and Zelie Marie (7); His parents Emiliano Herrera II & Celia Herrera; his siblings, Martin Herrera, Julio & Delma Herrera, Angelica & Jaime Hernandez, Miguel & Danielle Herrera, Teresa and Josefina Herrera; and a very loving community of extended family and friends.
To honor the wishes of Emiliano, funeral services will be in Houston, TX with interment in his hometown of Albuquerque, NM. Houston visitation and Rosary will be 6-8pm on Thursday March 30, 2023 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church campus, 19222 TX-249 Houston TX, 77070. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30am on Friday March 31, 2023 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church.
