Caroline Domine left this life peacefully on November 11, 2020 and was welcomed jubilantly into her eternal home by her parents and her Lord and Savior Jesus.
Born September 24, 1945, she was the daughter of Virginia and Achilles "Chick" Castria who founded and pastored the Astoria Baptist Church in Queens, NY for over 25 years. As a young adult, she served as Secretary to the Treasurer of Rockefeller Foundation in NYC. Caroline had a passion for hospitality, opening her home hundreds of times for a Sunday lunch of spaghetti and meatballs and hosting many missionary families for months at a time during their furloughs. She had a gift for generosity, often sending letters, gifts, and gift cards to bless others. You could always find her at work behind the scenes when there was work to be done, and enjoyed teaching children's church immensely. You could find her reading in a chair in the sunshine when it was time to rest. You could hear her humming countless hymns all day long. There was always joy in her heart to sing God's praises or play great hymns of faith on the piano.
She loved sunshine and children and dessert.
She loved books and goats and soccer games.
She loved giving gifts and hosting and cooking.
She loved fancy shoes and laughing and the beach.
She loved Jesus most of all.
She never complained and was always immensely grateful for the life God gave her.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Joseph Domine, and her three children, four grandsons, and one great-grandson: son Daniel Domine and his son Joshua Domine, his wife Ashley and their son Alessandro; daughter Sarah Domine; and son David Domine, his wife Lisa and their sons Caleb, Nathan and Matthew. Caroline joins her parents, brother James Castria and sister Elizabeth Watson in heaven.
Caroline was pretty adamant about not having a funeral service, never wanting anyone to make a fuss over her. She chose to be cremated and asked that her ashes be sprinkled on a beautiful beach somewhere.
