William Thomas “Tommy” Cowart III passed away peacefully on December 6, 2024. Born on March 3, 1949, in Ocala, Florida, Tommy lived a life defined by service, hard work, and a deep love for the outdoors.
After graduating from Ocala High School in 1967, Tommy proudly served his country in the United States Army, including a tour in Vietnam. Following his military service, Tommy eventually settled in McAllen, Texas, where he worked as a truck broker—a position he held faithfully until his passing.
A lifetime member of VFW Post 4209 in Ocala, Tommy also served as a Commander in his earlier years. He found peace and joy in nature, spending his time hunting, fishing, and enjoying the great outdoors.
Tommy is survived by his loving children:

Deena Elaine Cowart
Thomas Ethan Cowart
He was affectionately known as “Pawpaw” to his cherished grandchildren:

Kristin Timmons
Lil’ Rusty Timmons

And his great-granddaughter:

Tommy is also survived by his siblings:

In addition, he leaves behind numerous aunts, cousins, nephews, and extended family members who will miss him dearly.
A burial will take place at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida, at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in Tommy’s honor.
