Sylvia Wright Wilson

Sylvia Wright Wilson, loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many, joined two sons Kevin and Scott in Heaven with our Lord and Savior, on Friday, March 1, 2024, after an extensive battle with heart disease recently complicated with her struggles with Peritoneal Carcinoma.

Born to Willie Jerald and Hazel Wright May 20, 1941, in Orange, Texas. At an early age, her family moved to the Lake Charles area known as the Sportsman’s Paradise. She spent her youth and early adult years blessed with a large extended family all of whom enjoyed harvesting the abundant provisions of fish, fowl and all aquatic life.

Sylvia’s strong character, independence, personality and skills prepared her well for numerous positions of leadership and service both in high school and McNeese University’s social and service organizations. She fondly recalled representing her sorority, Chi Omega at their national meeting at the Greenbrier.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald Charles Cornett (Kevin’s biological father), sons Kevin Cornett Wilson, and Scott Eric Wilson.

Survivors of the immediate family include Husband of 57 years, Donald R. Wilson, Granddaughters Katie Wilson, Lauren Wilson, Great granddaughter Brylee Bryan, Grandsons Ryan Wilson and Russel Jackson, Daughters-in-law Diana Wilson and Cindy Wilson.

We will all cherish the memories of a life well lived, filled with guidance, inspiration, and unconditional love welcoming the day we will reunite in the glory of Heaven for eternityIn lieu of flowers, please give to charity of your choice.
