Susan Gayle McClellan Henry beloved wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, step-mother, step-grandmother, passed away November 25, 2025 in Cypress, Texas with her sister, grandchildren and great-grandchildren by her side.
She was born to Ralph and Louise McClellan in Wichita, Kansas. She spent her early childhood in Wichita until the family moved to the Kansas City, Kansas area where she completed her public education and graduated from Shawnee Mission North High School in Overland Park, Kansas.
Susan Gayle had an amazing ability to memorize information and numbers. this served her well with her careers that changed with the times and circumstances. While still living in the Kansas City area and in her early years in houston, TX she was an Executive Secretary. Even when the days of having an Executive Secretary waned steno pads, shorthand, lightning speed typing skills and Robert's Rules of Order, all remained a part of her life. She had a lengthy and most rewarding career in the Marine Industry in Houston, Texas.
Sharing a passion for music, she supported and encouraged her husband, Richard in all of his musical endeavors. She especially enjoyed the years that he was in a Bluegrass band and they would travel to Bluegrass Festivals mostly in the south central part of the country where his band would be performing. No birthday, anniversary or major life event went by where you didn't get an acknowledging card from Susan and she made every effort to not forget anyone. She was an unwavering Houston Astros fan. Over the years Susan always had at least two and sometimes up to 3 dogs at a time. All of her dogs were from a shelter or a rescue group. Some of them had extensive medical needs for which she provided. She gave all of her dogs great care throughout their lifetime with her. In the last fifteen years of her life Rheumatoid Arthritis robbed Susan of so much of the energy and vitality that were the hallmark of her personality. Despite her limitations she was a loving and devoted caregiver to her husband Richard until the end of his life.
Susan Gayle is survived by her sister Patricia McClellan Bramble, grandson Bennett Foster (Autumn), granddaughter Tracy Foster, five great-grandchildren, step children and step grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard D Henry, her daughter Yvonne Lynn foster and her parents Ralph and Louise McClellan.
The family would like to acknowledge the care given to Susan Gayle for many years by George T Keith Jr, MD and Dianne Wollaston, MD. Also our heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers and administrative staff of Bristol Park at Cypress.
In accordance with Susan Gayle's wishes there was a cremation and no formal service was held. The family honored her death privately and found peace in abiding her wishes. There will be an inurnment at a later date.
