Sonya Yvonne Clark a.k.a. Daffy Dilly
Entered stage: April 29, 1938
Bouncing baby daughter of: Robert Merrill Clark & Ruby Marie Clark (Dukes) of Springfield, MO
Exited stage: August 16, 2021
Sonya was preceded to the stage exit by her parents. Sonya was a clown. Daffy Dilly was her name, laughter was her game. Sonya had other jobs before she found her “calling”. She had been an Executive Secretary for many years, but what she spoke most about was her clowning. Sonya very much enjoyed her clowning community as she enjoyed engaging people to bring them a smile or a laugh. Sonya was a natural clown. She enjoyed traveling and new experiences while meeting new groups of people to become friends with and share a laugh with.
Sonya is survived by those of us still on the stage, namely, an older brother: Robert Nelson Clark & wife Phyllis, three nephews: David Nelson Clark & wife Bobbi, John Howard Clark, Jacob Anthony Garcia, and a nephew nephew (a great nephew) Richard Hoyt Clark. Sonya did not like the term “Great Aunt”. She said it made her sound old, which she was not. She wanted the name Aunt Aunt Sonya and he became Nephew Nephew Richard. She was funny like that. Sonya is also survived by a large group of fellow clowns, church family, friends, and coworkers from her journey through life.
Oh, and did I mention, Sonya was a clown? She did it her way. She will be missed.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11 am on Wednesday August 25 at St. Luke’s United Method Church ( 3471 Westheimer Rd, Houston, TX 77027 ).
