Rose Mary Stewart, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2026, in Spring, Texas, at the age of 82.

Family was the heartbeat of Rose Mary’s life. She is survived by her son, Eugene Lessman Jr.; daughter-in-law, Tina Lessman; grandchildren Sarah Goodman and her husband Chris Goodman, Andrew Lessman, Veronica Lessman, Dustin Hernandez, and Zachary Skweres. Great-grandchildren Austin Lessman, Hayden Rose Goodman, Aliyah Taylor, Hayley Taylor, and David Austin Taylor; great-great-grandchildren; her beloved daughter of the heart, Beth Schonefeld, whose love, devotion, and care were a treasured part of Rose Mary’s life; siblings Irwin Stewart and wife Johnny Sue Stewart, Janet McFadden and husband Don McFadden Sr., and Marjorie Stewart; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Rose Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Leon Stewart and Rose Stewart; her brother Douglas Stewart and sister-in-law Joyce Stewart; and her grandson David Taylor.

Born on October 10, 1943, at Hargrove Hospital in Oakdale, Louisiana, Rose Mary grew up in Galena Park, Texas, where she graduated from Galena Park High School, Class of 1961. She dedicated her life to caring for others through her work in healthcare. After earning her EEG certification, she worked at Twelve Oaks Hospital in Houston alongside respected physicians Dr. Devere and Dr. Martin. She later continued her career at West Houston Memorial Hospital (now West Houston Medical Center), where she worked until her retirement in 2005.

Rose Mary was a woman of remarkable faith, intelligence, grace, and compassion. Her faith in Jesus Christ was the foundation of her life. She found comfort and strength in Scripture, especially Psalm 91:11, which she lovingly prayed with her children and grandchildren whenever they were afraid, reminding them that God’s protection and presence were always with them.

One of Rose Mary’s greatest gifts was the ability to make people feel seen, heard, safe, and loved. She never met a stranger and welcomed people into her life with an open heart. She could see beyond someone’s mistakes or circumstances and recognize the person underneath. Her love was generous and unconditional, and she had a remarkable ability to make others feel as though they belonged.

Rose Mary believed life was meant to be celebrated and lived beautifully. She carried herself with grace and elegance, always putting her best foot forward. She never left the house without her hair done and her lipstick on, and she took great pride in making sure her family felt confident and cared for. Holidays brought new dresses, special occasions brought new outfits, and even a family dinner was an opportunity to feel beautiful and put together. Through these traditions, she taught her family that presenting yourself with care was a reflection of self-respect and love.

She found beauty in the world around her and had a gift for creating magic in everyday moments. She was an avid gardener who loved roses, azaleas, morning glories, and every flower that brought color and life into the world. She treasured gemstones, crystals, jewel tones, and anything that sparkled. She especially loved sharing that joy with others, often gifting little gems and rings that became reminders of her love.

Rose Mary cherished family traditions and memories. She loved Christmas, caroling, cutting down the family Christmas tree, and creating homemade decorations. She especially treasured the annual family trips to Garner State Park and the Frio River, where laughter, adventure, and time together created memories that would last for generations.

She enjoyed cozy evenings by the fireplace, a wonderful meal, a great movie, spa days and getting her nails done with loved ones, and scenic drives surrounded by the colors of fall while listening to music that matched the beauty. A gifted storyteller herself, Rose Mary loved fairy tales, timeless stories, and magical fiction. She believed there was wonder to be found in both imagination and everyday life, and she shared that gift generously with the people she loved.

Rose Mary’s legacy is one of faith, love, kindness, and acceptance. Like the gardens she cared for, she spent her life cultivating something beautiful…relationships, memories, and a family built not only by blood, but by love.

As she entered her eternal home, we imagine Rose Mary surrounded by the beauty she always cherished: the presence of Jesus, the sparkle of gemstones, and the heavenly wonder she so often dreamed of a place more magnificent than she could have ever imagined.

She will be deeply loved and forever remembered by all who were blessed to know her.

Services will be held at Grace Church in The Woodlands, with the date and time to be announced.
