With profound sadness we announce the passing of Roberto G Calvillo on the morning of Saturday, March 6, 2021. He fought a respiratory illness with various health challenges until God spoke to his spirit and although he was only 64 years old, Roberto followed the Lord home to heaven.
Roberto was born in Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Mexico to Petra and Tomas Calvillo on February 22, 1957. He was preceded in death by his father, his mother, and two siblings, Jose Jesus Calvillo and Guadalupe Calvillo Yanez. Those left to celebrate his life are his son Roberto Carlos Calvillo, brothers Santiago, Tomas Jr, Joseph, Sergio, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Without a doubt, Roberto had a long-term passion for NASCAR. He would spend his Sundays watching the car races all day and never wanted to miss a moment of the action on the track. He would rarely budge from the television, not even to answer the front door or phone, as Roberto reminded us many times that he would not be answering his phone that day. The races have lost one of their most truly devoted followers. Roberto was also a major Houston Astros fan. He loved his local team and cherished the times he was able to go watch them play ball at the stadium.
Roberto always made you laugh when he would crack jokes, tell funny stories and had the most comical and memorable sayings. He was also a mastermind when it came to inventive nicknames for his family and friends. The beaming smile on his face that radiated his happy moments in life was priceless. He will be terribly missed and will always be in our hearts.
There will be a Celebration of Roberto’s Life held on Saturday, March 20, 2021 starting at 3pm in Crosby, Texas held by his son, Roberto Carlos Calvillo.
Come with Me
God saw he was getting tired
And a cure was not to be,
So He wrapped His arms around him
And whispered “Come with me.”
With tearful eyes we watched him suffer,
And saw him fading away.
Although we loved him dearly,
We could not make him stay.
A golden heart stopped beating.
Hard working hands put to rest,
God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes the best.
