August 16, 1970 — February 15, 2019
René Augusto Ruiz, aka Cuchy, was promoted to heaven on February 15, 2019, after 48 glorious years on God's green earth. He brought love and light to everyone who knew him, with a quick wit, easy smile, and a warm, all-encompassing, infectious laugh.
The youngest of five children and the only boy, baby René was doted on by his loving sisters and parents. René was a gentle soul, with unwavering love and kindness; a sentimentalist and an incurable romantic. He was deeply in love with his wife/partner-in- crime/best friend of 26 years, Purvi, and his beautiful sons, Jai and Jovian. He was an amazing, loving devoted father.
René's second family, his band of brothers, since boarding school, had formed an intimate life-long friendship. He was the "go-to" for anyone that just wanted to talk or needed help with problem solving.
René was a man of simple pleasures; his hobbies included fishing, cooking to Miles Davis and scuba diving. He was a lover of music, nature and the great outdoors - jokingly, he used to say, all he needed was a bottle of tequila and a box of granola bars.
René was meticulous to a fault. He spent countless hours researching everything from trash bags, to soap to hand-held vacuums. He was extremely thorough in everything he did.
René was preceded on his journey to heaven by his father, René Augusto Ruiz, Sr.
And now Heaven calls again, that it's missing an Angel... our beloved René, who
will eternally be in the hearts of those he leaves behind: his wife, Purvi Ruiz,
sons Jai and Jovian Ruiz, mother, Lydia Ruiz, sisters, Yvonne Gonzalez, Vivian Ruiz, Nancy de la Cruz (Luis), Blenda Ruiz (Amando), nephew, Jesse Alexander Gonzalez (Lauren, Che, Tommy), niece, Giulianna Ruiz-Shah; and by every person who has loved him and has considered René like family, too numerous to list.
Forty-eight years went quickly...
May you have a beach out front, mountains and waterfalls in the back, a freezer full of ice cream, and endless episodes of Martin.
