Fourth generation Houstonian, Randon Paul Dillingham, lost a lengthy and courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease on March 12, 2020 in Brenham, Texas. He was 65.
Randon was loyal to the people and family he loved. He grew up in the area of South Hampton in Houston in the 50s and 60s, when friends and family were deeply interconnected. Good times with neighboring cousins, the Morris family, building Christmas tree forts, looking out for one another and enjoying being the youngest of four baby boomers in the Dillingham family.
He attended Edgar Allan Poe Elementary School and graduated from Lamar High School Class of 1973. Randon's family established part time residences in Washington County near Round Top in the 60's. He had a deep love for the beauty and serenity of Washington County.
After high school Randon volunteered for Amigos de las Americas, traveling to Latin America immunizing populations to save lives. A cause very dear to his heart.
Randon went on to attend Blinn College in Brenham, later transferring to Colorado Mountain College at Glenwood Springs, then moving to Austin to complete his degree in photography.
While putting himself through college he opened a "Roses to Go" business near the University of Texas campus in a former Fotomat Booth! Importing, maintaining and bundling roses from his home garage. Upon completing his Associates degree from Austin Community College he went to work for The University of Texas in photography development.
Randon loved and enjoyed winemaking and putting recipes into practice winning prizes at the
Texas State Fair and the Washington County Fair. In 1993 Randon fell in love with the camaraderie, friends and sport of Disc Golf. He was one of the first members of the PDGA
#7501. Randon moved full time to the family farm at Winedale, The Snow Farm, and built the first privately owned, disc golf course in the State of Texas.
Snow Farm was a 21 hole championship disc golf course which sponsored many tournaments and gatherings for the love of friends and disc golf. Randon also designed and implemented the disc golf course at Hohlt Park in Brenham, Texas.
Randon leaves behind his loving wife of 13 years, Laura Louise, step daughters Leslie of Houson, Megan of Houston, Elizabeth and husband Hunter of Uvalde, TX, and 4 grandchildren whom Randon cherished greatly, Rana, Yusuf, Bonnie Pearl, and Jolene.
Other survivors include Randon' s siblings, Charles Dillingham III and his wife Susan Clines of Pasadena, CA, George Dillingham and his wife Helen of Brenham and Elizabeth Dillingham and
her husband Guy Monroe of Thailand, Samantha Dillingham, Jon Dillingham, Brett & Audrey Faucheaux and many other nieces & nephews.
The family will have a private celebration of Randon's life at a later date.
