With heavy hearts and deep sadness, we announce the passing of Peter Ronald Rhubottom, a devoted husband, loving father, and loyal friend. He passed away at age 67 on August 22, 2026, in Cypress, Texas, surrounded by his family he loved so dearly.
Peter Rhubottom, or “Pete” as those near to him affectionately called him, was born on September 24, 1958, to the late Vernon Alfred Partridge and Violet Lucy Partridge in Bangalore, India. He was a handsome little devil with light blonde hair, fair skin, and the biggest, brightest blue eyes you had ever seen. Truly befitting of an Anglo-Indian boy! He was blessed with the love of not one but two other mothers, his adoptive mother Evelyn Rhubottom who took him in and cared for him when he was just a boy. And Mother Mary, to whom Peter looked for protection and guidance throughout his life's journey.
He experienced a less than pleasant childhood and was put through many trials and sufferings at a very young age. Being adopted, he always felt neglected, unloved and misunderstood. He longed to find a place where he truly belonged and often felt compelled to prove himself to the world. However, he never gave up! Peter worked hard and fought for everything he had and all he dreamed of achieving. Eventually his resilience led him to a career he was passionate about in the airline industry. This passion was also shared by Yvette, his wife, whom he met in Mumbai, India, while working together in Gulf Air. She was quickly drawn to his charming personality. Falling in love with his creativity, sharp mind, quick wit, and empathetic nature. Together they built a life and his dream of having a family instantly became a reality a couple years after marriage when they welcomed their first-born child, Crystal Rhubottom. As their family began to grow, they decided to move to America and soon after the birth of their second child, Sandra Barbara Rhubottom, they moved to New York. Working their way down south, they moved from New York to Illinois and from Illinois to Texas. He was a true cowboy at heart and loved everything Texan – the people, music, movies, food, apparel, culture – and it was here that he finally found that sense of belonging he longed for as a boy.
Peter was a dedicated, compassionate family man. Nothing held greater importance to him than his three girls. To the outside world he was an ordinary man with many qualms, but to his family he was an extraordinary man and a loving father. Like most dads, he was caring, supportive, protective, strong, and hardworking. He was extremely proud of his children and believed that they were his lifes greatest achievement. Although he had several qualities of a traditional father, he was far from traditional. His methods were often unconventional, but the guidance and wisdom he instilled in his daughters contributed to who they are today and for that they will be forever grateful.
Growing up, Peter did not have much. He made do with what he had and enjoyed lifes simple pleasures. This experience led him to have an unfamiliar perspective on life. He could never bear to see anyone sad or alone having known the cruel feeling all too well. Wherever he went, he offered a piece of his heart through various acts of kindness. Often through things he loved to do the most. He was a natural-born entertainer and those who knew him relished his cooking, enjoyed hearing him sing, and liked watching him dance. He had an incredible sense of humor and an infectious smile that would brighten anyones day. He liked sharing stories of the unique encounters of his many travels. He was often described as a reliable friend who you could depend on to lend a helping hand, confide in, offer comfort and solace, or make your troubles fade away with a warm and gentle hug. He even extended his caring, giving nature to many animals, being a huge admirer of wildlife and all its inhabitants. At first glance, he portrayed a tough exterior with a reserved persona. But those fortunate enough to know the real Peter, saw him for what he truly was a gem of a person with a heart of gold, and a generosity that knew no bounds.
There will be moments when his absence is deeply felt, but we must take comfort in knowing that it was necessary for him to go and find a peace and happiness greater than anything this world could offer.
So today, we do not simply say goodbye but thank you.
Thank you, Peter, for the laughter. Thank you for the love. Thank you for the unforgettable memories. Thank you for the joy you brought into the ordinary moments. Thank you for allowing us the privilege of sharing a portion of life's journey with you.
Peter is survived by his beloved wife Yvette Rhubottom (nee Almeida); his daughters, Crystal Rhubottom and Sandra Rhubottom; and his extended family, including sisters, brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, nieces, nephews, and many others who loved him dearly.
Though his passing leaves an emptiness that can never truly be filled, Peters love lives on in the hearts of everyone who knew him. His family will carry his memory forward - not only remembering the profound sadness of losing him, but also the incredible gift of having loved him and been loved by him. He will forever remain a part of the family he cherished so deeply.
Always loved, forever missed, and never forgotten. Your memory will live on in our hearts, in our laughter, and in every beautiful moment we share.
"Until we meet again, may the music play, the dancing continue, and the skies always be blue"
