Patt Adams

December 5, 1934 — January 10, 2019

Patt Reece Adams aka Patricia Evelyn Reece was born December 5,1934 in Sacramento, California. She was the only daughter of Evelyn Reece and Champ Whittington, and was raised by Doug and Evelyn Reece. Patt was a trophy winning barrel racer, and grew up in the San Joaquin Valley on an asparagus ranch. Patt never had a tennis lesson, but won the semi-finals for California State when she was 12 years old, and won The State of Texas for 50 year olds. Patt loved animals and rescued many cats and dogs all her life, besides milking her favorite dairy cow every morning on the ranch. Patt was a cost accountant and helped run the ranch, until she accepted a job as one of the top Frito Lay financial advisors, and one of the very few women hired for a professional finance job in 1963, in Dallas, Texas. Patt had a California rancher's kindness and manners, and when she saw Moffatt D. Adams A.I.A. Architect standing in the snow, with his arms full of plans and a briefcase, in his London Fog coat, waiting at the glass doors at Exchange Bank Tower for someone to open the door for him, she walked over and opened the door for him. They fell in love, and had 4 beautiful children, who all married and had more beautiful children. Family life in the Adams family was like "The Brady Bunch," with wonderful parents who loved their children. Raising 4 children and being the secretary of one of the most prominent commercial architects in Texas, Patt had a full, active life, and was an excellent hostess. They entertained the politically famous in a Texas, from Joe Pool, and Judge Lew Sterett to LBJ and Ronald Reagan. The years flew by, with trips all over Texas to visit family and friends, along with architectural job sites, school work, tennis games and bridge games. Moffatt Sr. and Patt moved to College Station in 1983, and lived a busy, happy full life with Moffatt being the Chief Architect at TAMU. Moffatt Sr. died in 1992. Patt had the pleasure of living in College Station and attending Texas A&M university, graduating in Journalism in 1995. Patt was graced with the presence of her first granddaughter, Lutece, living with her, and later was blessed when her granddaughter Kayla came to care for her after she suffered a major stroke in 2016-2017. After some other disabling strokes, 2017-2019, Patt went to live with her daughter and her family in League city, Texas. Patt was treasured, loved, and spent her days grateful to the Lord and His Gifts of such a wonderful life. Patt loved her family with all her heart, and everything she ever did was for her family. Patt was a wonderful mother, wife, and the best friend to all her children. Patt valued education and taught her family to be proud, educated, generous, Christian and brave. The Lord Jesus and Moffatt, her husband, received her into heaven on Jan. 10, 2019. Patt is survived by her children Moffatt Jr., Pattrica Sahara, Matthew, and Kittrie; and their spouses, and her grandchildren: Lutece, Moffatt III, Mark, Matthew Michael, Kayla, Kurt, Patricia Suzy, Kayra, and Kayleigh ; and her great Grandchildren: Lutece & Layla. Patt was a strong Christian who raised strong Christians. Patt was given caring friends that blessed her life, The Winn family, The Royal Oaks Racquet Club ladies and their families, The Jarva family, The Fotinopolous family, The Watts family, The Castle family, The Wilkinson family, The Hesles family, The Morgan family, and The LaRive family. We all are grateful for your kindness and love for Patt Adams; she treasured each of you as well.
