Maria Amparo Arroyave

En un “Bello puerto de mar Buenaventura, donde se aspira siempre la brisa pura”, naces un Lunes, Febrero 25 de 1952.

El día Miércoles, 23 de Agosto a la 1:30am se une al alma de su amado hermano gemelo Victor Arroyave fallecido 47 años atrás.

“Con azuquita para los niños” como ella decía, dedicó la mayor parte de su tiempo laboral y retiró compartiendo su amor más puro como Nanny. Dejando huella en múltiples chiquitos algunos ya adultos, quienes tienen la suerte de tenerla en sus corazones a través de sus cuidados, enseñanzas y lo más importante su cocina.

Y si no que lo digan sus dos y únicos nietos Sofía y Lucas Olbekson Bello quienes la sobreviven y cuyas memorias recordarán con cariño “Las arepitas de Tata” ; arepitas mágicas que curaban desde heridas hasta las pataletas.

En su natal Colombia con sus padres Fanny Montoya de Arroyave y Hector Arroyave originarios de Antioquia, regresa a Medellín, para luego finalmente trasladarse a Bogotá donde conoce al padre de su hija Santiago Bello Bello.

En 2002 en compañía de su hija emigra a Estados Unidos a la ciudad de Phoenix, Arizona, donde a pesar de no saber el idioma y de enfrentarse a un cambio cultural, su espíritu siempre valiente y resiliente brilla una vez más.

En 2004 debido al trabajo de su hija una vez se mudó junto con ella a la ciudad de Houston, Texas.

Como algunas de las más tradicionales madres latinas o quizás sólo como ella misma, el anhelo de tener nietos era uno de sus máximos sueños, el cuál se hizo realidad, con la unión en matrimonio de su hija Haydee Bello Olbekson y Jason Olbekson. Consentirlos, pasar tiempo con ellos, tejerles pájaros, y estrellas en fundas de almohada para que sus sueños fueran guiados por los angelitos y cuidarles era su pasatiempo más divertido durante su retiro.

Dueña de dones aparentemente tan sencillos, pero el tesoro más apreciado, como el saber ser una buena escucha la convirtieron en una gran consejera para amigos y familiares.

La sobrevivimos con todo nuestro infinito amor, su hija Haydee Bello Olbekson, su nuero Jason Olbekson, nietos Sofia y Lucas Olbekson Bello. Sobrina Johana Delgado Arroyave, e hijos Valentina y Santiago Marin Delgado. 

Sobrinos Elkin, Yuryveth Arroyave, y Kevin Arroyave su siempre adorada tía Amparo Arroyave; como también queridos familiares y amigos a quienes llevó en su corazón.

Gracias por tu risa picará,  inconfundible, la cual podía contagiar el espacio de silencio más sobrio, y la cual esperamos llene este y todos los espacios que sin tu presencia física se sienten profundamente vacíos.

El Servicio en su Memoria seguido por Celebración de Vida se llevarán a cabo el día Sábado, 9 de Septiembre a las 2pm, en la Iglesia Unity, en la Torre de Luz, 2929 Unity Drive, Houston, Texas 77057.

Vestimenta blanca es sugerida, por favor. 

En lugar de flores, donaciones al Sant Jude Hospital en su nombre son agradecidas, honrando su apoyo en vida a este mismo.

On Wednesday, August 23 at 1:30 am, Amparo joins the soul of her beloved twin brother Victor Arroyave, who died 47 years ago.

Amparo spent most of her working time and retired life sharing her pure love as a Nanny. She left a lasting impression on multiple children, some now adults, who are lucky enough to have her in their hearts through her care, teachings and most importantly her cooking.

Her two dear grandchildren Sofía and Lucas Olbekson Bello loved, and will always fondly remember Tata’s cooking and “Las arepitas de Tata”; magical arepas that healed all wounds and tantrums.

Amparos started life in Colombia with her parents Fanny Montoya de Arroyave and Hector Arroyave, originally from Antioquia. She moved to Medellín, and then later to Bogotá where she met Haydee’s father Santiago Bello Bello.

In 2002, accompanied by her daughter, she immigrated to the United States to the city of Phoenix, Arizona. Despite not knowing the language and facing an abrupt cultural change, her brave and resilient spirit always shone through during this transition. 

In 2004, due to her daughter's job, she moved to the city of Houston, Texas.

Her desire to have grandchildren was one of her greatest dreams. This dream came true after the marriage of her daughter Haydee Bello Olbekson to Jason Olbekson. Upon retirement, Amparo’s favorite pastime was spending time with her two grandchildren and pampering them. She loved to weave birds and stars into pillowcases for them, so that their dreams were guided by little angels. 

Amparo was the owner of a seemingly simple, but treasured, gift of being a great listener. This gift made her a trusted advisor to friends and family who would call her often for life advice. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, Fanny Montoya de Arroyave and Victor Arroyave; her siblings Hector Arroyave Montoya and Beatriz Arroyave Montoya.

Amparo is survived with all our infinite love by daughter Haydee Bello Olbekson; son-in-law Jason Olbekson; grandchildren Sofia Lorena Olbekson Bello and Lucas Andres Olbekson Bello; niece Johana Delgado Arroyave and her children Valentina and Santiago Marin Delgado; nephews Elkin, Yuryveth Arroyave, and Kevin Arroyave; along with many other friends and extended family who will always carry her in their hearts. 

Thank you for your stinging unmistakable laugh which could infect the most sober space of silence, and which we hope will fill our empty hearts without your physical presence.

A Memorial Service followed by a Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 9 at 2pm, at Unity Church, Tower of Light, 2929 Unity Drive, Houston, Texas 77057.

White attire is encourage.
