Luciano (Lucky) Mendez

1967 — January 1, 2023

Luciano (Lucky) Aaron Mendez, beloved husband, father, son, and brother, passed away April 22, 2023 at Memorial Hermann in the Medical Center in Houston, Texas.  Born May 7, 1967 in Longview, Texas to Rodolfo and Lynda Mendez, Luciano was the older brother to Yolanda.   Luciano met the love of his life, Pamela, in 1994, while attending Almeda Baptist Church.  After a short courtship, they married in June of 1994.  Together, they welcomed daughter Dominique, followed by sons John and Michael.

Luciano served his country in the United States Army following high school at Contemporary Learning Center.  Luciano became a member of the Spirit of Texas cook-off team at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and gladly participated for over the last 33 years.  He also served on the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Ops Committee for the last 20 years.   He enjoyed not just the barbecue aspect but the camaraderie, each year, building friendships that proved life-long.  Luciano also had many lasting friendships with his coworkers in the HVAC industry, where he worked as an expert in the field for the last 30 years.

Having never met a stranger, Luciano was positively the most generous and kind soul.  The most common thing anyone who ever knew Luciano says is how he would literally give the shirt of his back to whoever needed his help.  Luciano continued giving his help to others, even as his last act of kindness, by being an organ donor.

Luciano is preceded in death by his grandparents and several aunts and uncles.  He is survived by his loving wife, Pamela, his amazing children Dominique, John and Michael; his devoted parents Rodolfo and Lynda Mendez, his caring sister Yolanda Trimble (Tony) and their children Ryan and Rachael; his sister-in-law Kathryn Frazier (Kirby) and their children Sandra Kay Boles, Chelsea Boles and Margaret-Ashley Boles; brother-in-law Andrew Canon (Julia), and innumerable friends always felt more like family than just friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for assistance via a GoFundMe under Luciano Mendez.  The family is choosing to have a Celebration of Life to honor Luciano in the coming months.  Details for that service will be shared at a later date.
