Lillian "Sam" Kates 88, of Houston, passed away January 27, 2020 of natural causes at home surrounded by family.

She was born October 25, 1931, in Rochester, New York. On January 4, 1950 she wed Richard F. Polmanteer.

Besides raising eight children, Lillian worked as a Swim Instructor and Private Investigator. She enjoyed spending time with her family, swimming, church activities, and traveling.

Lillian is preceded in death by her parents John and Pearl Kates, her sister Edna Hartman, former spouse Richard F. Polmanteer, and son Richard L. Polmanteer.

She is survived in death by her seven children: Michael Polmanteer (Mary Kay) of Steilacoom WA, Michelle Polmanteer of Heber Springs AR, Cheryle Hogwood (George) of Buchannan Dam TX, Denise Greer of Baytown TX, David Polmanteer (Jane) of Bozeman MT, John Polmanteer of Houston TX, and Jeffery Polmanteer (Donna) of Houston TX. 13 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 2 nephews, and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to any charity of your choice.

The Viewing and Funeral Service will be held the same day on February 1, 2020 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 3000 Broadway Street, Houston, Texas 77017.

Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m.

Note: Viewing of the deceased will precede the Funeral Service between the hours of 1:00 p.m. to 1:40 p.m.
A private dinner will follow the service in the reception hall for family and invited guests
