Lidia Aracely Martinez Navarrete Lopez

Lidia Aracely Martínez Navarrete Lopez nació el 26 de mayo de 1948 en Mejicanos, San Salvador, El Salvador, hija de Ana Zoila Martínez y Rómulo Navarrete Sigüenza. Emigró a los Estados Unidos en la década de 1960 y se casó con el amor de su vida, Joaquín López, el 22 de agosto de 1975. Como esposa de militar, Lidia vivió en muchos lugares distintos, incluyendo Italia y Alemania. Fue en Alemania donde Lidia comenzó a estudiar por primera vez con los testigos de Jehová. Al regresar la familia a Maryland en 1988, retomó su estudio, dedicó su vida a Jehová y se bautizó en 1991.

Lidia era una mujer amable, con una personalidad alegre y contagiosa. Le encantaba reír y hacía amistades con facilidad. Trabajó durante muchos años como cajera bancaria en la cooperativa NASA Federal Credit Union. Los clientes habituales preferían esperar más tiempo en la fila solo para poder ser atendidos por Lidia y disfrutar de su conversación y alegría. Le encantaban las visitas de familiares y amigos, y en su hogar siempre había una política de puertas abiertas. Los visitantes eran bienvenidos a entrar sin necesidad de tocar la puerta. También disfrutaba coleccionar objetos como Biblias y otra literatura, bolígrafos, carteras y abanicos.

A Lidia le encantaba compartir su fe con los demás. Incluso aprovechó oportunidades para hablar de sus creencias con personas destacadas, como la ex primera dama Barbara Bush y el ganador del Premio Nobel John Mather. Tenía una fe firme en las promesas de Dios para el futuro, lo cual le dio fuerzas tanto en tiempos felices como en momentos difíciles, especialmente tras la muerte de su amado esposo Joaquín, a quien llamaba cariñosamente “Arturo”, en febrero del 2021. Estaba convencida de que se reunirá con él en el paraíso aquí en la Tierra.

A Lidia le sobreviven sus hijos: su hija Zoila Inofuentes-Yanez, junto con su esposo Dionicio y su hija Taylor; su hijo Joaquín López Jr., con su esposa Laura y sus hijos Joaquín III, Serena, Isabelle, además de sus hijastros Russell, Angelica y John; y su hijo Julio López, con su esposa Diana y sus hijos Alana, Lucas y Kaila. También le sobreviven sus hermanas, Zoila Martínez, Edith DeHaut y Morena Martínez así como sobrinas, sobrinos, cuñados y muchos hijos y nietos “adoptivos”.

Lidia Aracely Martinez Navarrete Lopez was born on May 26th, 1948 in Mejicanos, San Salvador, El Salvador to Ana Zoila Martinez and Romulo Navarrete Siguenza. She came to the United States in the 1960s and married the love of her life, Joaquin Lopez, on August 22, 1975. As a military wife, Lidia lived in many different places, including Italy and Germany. It was while in Germany that Lidia first began studying with Jehovah’s Witnesses. When the family returned to Maryland in 1988, she resumed her studies, dedicated her life to Jehovah and was baptized in 1991.

Lidia was kind with a bubbly personality and she loved to laugh. She easily made many friends. Lidia worked as a bank teller at NASA Federal Credit Union for many years. Regular customers would choose to wait in line longer so that they could go to Lidia’s window and enjoy talking and laughing with her. Lidia loved visits from family and friends. The family had an open-door policy, encouraging visitors to walk right in without knocking. She also enjoyed collecting things, such as Bibles and other literature, pens, purses and fans.

Lidia loved to share her faith with others. She even took advantage of opportunities to share her beliefs with notable people, such as former First Lady Barbara Bush and Nobel Prize winner John Mather. She had strong faith in God’s promises for the future, which carried her through both joyous and challenging times, especially the death of her beloved husband Joaquin, whom she lovingly called “Arturo”, in February, 2021. She firmly believed that she will be reunited with Joaquin in paradise here on Earth.

Lidia is survived by her children: Daughter- Zoila Inofuentes-Yanez, her husband Dionicio and their daughter Taylor; Son- Joaquin Lopez, Jr., his wife Laura and children Joaquin III(or “Tercero”), Serena, Isabelle, and stepchildren Russell, Angelica and John; and Son- Julio Lopez, his wife Diana and their children Alana, Lucas and Kaila. Lidia is also survived by her sisters, Zoila Martinez, Edith DeHaut and Morena Martinez as well as nieces, nephews, in-laws and many “adopted” children and grandchildren.
