Lester grew up in Mobile, and after high school, he went to work for the County of Mobile and became the youngest, licensed crane operator in the county’s history. Lester spread his wings early on and accepted a job with Brown & Root in Pascagoula, Mississippi. This was the beginning of his career in the oil, gas, and petrochemical industry which led him to travel to different job venues all over the United States; making countless and cherished friends along his professional journey. Lester loved his work and always strived to be the best. Generally, he was the first one on the job and the last one to leave. He leaves behind a hole the size of Texas where some of his best friends still live and work. Lester loved his Brown & Root buddies. He used to refer to them as his brothers, but Lester made new and treasured friends most recently at Shackelford Construction in Yazoo City, Mississippi. Thank you to all of you for your many years of friendship…he loved you all.

Lester was predeceased by his parents Mack Henry Miller and Eldora Hudson Miller; sisters Inez Curry, Maxine Wright, Betty Williams; brother Norman ‘Frank’ Miller; and his beloved nephew, Richard Miller. Lester is survived by his wife, Bonnie Sue Miller; his brother, Johnny Miller (Jan) and his sister, Clarice McCullough; his beloved children, Cynthia Miller, Lester Miller Jr., Josie Miller (Greg); Jessica Trapp; his grandchildren Miranda Miller, Kayleigh Patterson, Shawn Ritch Jr., Michael Ritch, Lester Miller III, Hanna Miller, Abigail Campbell, Evie Campbell, Matthew Ingles, Justin Lenahan; and his great-grandson Kingston Clarke. Lester also leaves behind countless cousins, nephews, and nieces whom he loved dearly. May the memories and stories about Lester comfort everyone.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. They gave Lester the gift of life through their mechanical heart valve which he gratefully carried with him for almost 23 years until his passing.
