Keith Harold Lehtinen, 70, passed away surrounded by family on May 9, 2024. He was born on September 14, 1953 to Harold and Shirley Lehtinen. He graduated from Hudson High School in Hudson, Ohio in 1971. He received a BBA (1975) and MBA (1976) in finance from the University of Texas at Austin. He was a member of the Delta Sigma Pi business fraternity.
He met his wife, Christy, at the University of Texas at Austin and was married on August 21, 1976. They moved to Houston in 1977, where they raised their three children and Keith began his 33-year career at Exxon as a financial executive, retiring in 2009.
Keith was a hard-working, loving husband, father, and “Pops” to his 8 grandchildren. He loved cheering on the Longhorns surrounded by family and friends. He was an avid golfer and regularly played with some of his closest friends at Blackhorse Golf Club. He was a Lifetime Committeeman of the Breeders Greeters at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. Nothing made him happier than to spend time with his family. He especially loved spending time at his 21 Ranch in Brenham.
Keith is preceded in death by his father Harold August Lehtinen and mother Shirley Sippola Lehtinen.
He is survived by his wife, Christy, of 47 years, children Kelli Beck (husband Joe), Ryan Lehtinen (wife Lindsey), Shannon Tautenhahn (husband Brock), and 8 grandchildren Logan & Cooper Beck, Noelle, Hudson, & Britt Lehtinen, and Finley, Jolie, & Annie Tautenhahn; brother Steve Lehtinen (wife Phyllis) and nieces Lauren Fairall and Kristen Patino.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the family’s 21 Ranch (5155 Old Mill Creek Rd, Brenham, Texas 77833) on Monday, May 27, 2024 at 11:00am followed by a reception lunch. Keith’s favorite color was green, so family and friends are asked to wear green in his honor. Please RSVP by emailing thelehtinens@gmail.com.
