Joseph Bryan Adair of Cypress, Texas, passed away June 21, 2026, at the age of 84. Known by all as Bryan, he was born on December 13, 1941, in Victoria, Texas to Albert Judson Adair and Elizabeth Cowden Adair. He graduated from William B. Travis High School in Austin, Texas in 1960.

He attended the University of Texas at Austin, graduating with a BSME degree in 1965. Shortly after, he joined the military serving as a Naval Aviator with the Marine Corps, flying both fixed and rotary wing aircraft. Bryan flew helicopters in Vietnam as well as in the Caribbean and in the States. After being honorably discharged in 1970, Bryan continued his education, earning an MBA in 1973 and a PhD in Marketing in 1978. While working on his PhD, Bryan met his future wife, Charlotte, at a dance in Austin; they celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary on June 12th.

Bryan’s career also included operating an iron foundry in Houston, serving as a manufacturing management consultant for numerous firms, spending a few years “off the grid” in Kentucky, and ending up as a tax preparer for Liberty Tax. Bryan was active in several churches over the years including The Foundry Church and was also involved in the Kairos and Emmaus Communities.

Bryan is survived by his wife, Charlotte Rose Westbrook Adair; daughters, Janet Wheeler and Renee Smoker and their spouses; and several grandchildren.

Bryan will be laid to rest in a ceremony at the Houston National Cemetery on June 30 at 11:15. A Memorial Service will follow at 12:00 pm, at The Foundry Church, 8350 Jones Road, Houston, Texas 77065 with Pastor Truan officiating
