Joel lived a rich and fulfilling life, marked by his unwavering dedication to his family and community. He married his beloved wife, Connie Castro, and together they celebrated an incredible 68 years of marriage. Their love story is a testament to the strength of their bond and the joy they brought to one another and their family.

Throughout his life, Joel was a source of support and inspiration to his children: Sam Castro and his wife Lisa, Lyn Gant, Tracy Carter and her husband Danny, and Bruce Castro and his wife Stephanie. He was a proud grandfather to 11 grandchildren and a doting great-grandfather to 7 great-grandchildren, each of whom cherished his guidance, humor, and kindness.

Educated at McGill Institute in Mobile, Alabama, Joel graduated high school before pursuing higher education at the University of Houston. With over 50 years of experience as a physical therapist, Joel touched the lives of countless individuals, helping them recover and regain their strength.

In addition to his professional pursuits, Joel was deeply involved in his community. Joel’s interests extended to his love for the University of Houston athletics, where he enjoyed cheering for his team with enthusiasm and pride. He was known for his kind and caring nature, his generous spirit, and his great sense of humor, which brought joy to everyone around him. His legacy of love and laughter will forever remain in the hearts of those he leaves behind.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, an organization that was dear to Joel's heart, reflecting his lifelong commitment to helping those in need.

Joel Allen Castro will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know him. His spirit will live on in the stories shared, the lessons taught, and the love spread throughout his family and community.
