Jerry Boriack

March 2, 1932 — November 22, 2019

Jerry Boriack (J.W. known by many), beloved husband, father, and friend passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Friday, the 22nd of November 2019. Jerry was 87 years old following his 20-plus year battle with cancer.
Jerry was born on March 2nd, 1932 in Porterville, CA. Jerry moved to Texas as a child and later attended the University of Texas where he received his Bachelor of Business Administration in 1954. Jerry served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, where he served as an accountant before being honorably discharged, which allowed him to reenroll at University of Texas where he then received his MBA in 1957. He then completed postgraduate work at the University of Houston and later received his CPA degree in Accounting in 1962.
After some brief work at Humble Oil & Refining in Baytown, TX and following his CPA degree, Jerry transferred to Esso Libya in 1963, where he worked in the Controller's Department until early 1971. In 1971, Jerry transferred to New York and shortly thereafter back to Houston, TX with Esso Eastern. In 1974, Jerry transferred again to Malaysia and later with Exxon Production Malaysia in various assignments. In 1981, Jerry moved back to the states with Esso Exploration in Houston, TX. He retired on August 1, 1992 with Exxon Mobil.
Jerry was a caring father to his two children and enjoyed his time in the jungle in Malaysia. Jerry had a great zest for life and loved playing tennis, which he is probably doing now in heaven.
Jerry loved the Lord and he loved people. He enjoyed being involved in the Praiser's Class at Tallowood Baptist Church where he served as an online missionary and sang in the church choir. Jerry loved to evangelize on the internet, in the assisted living home, or in person wherever he went.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Judy Shuttleworth Boriack of Katy, TX, and children, Susan Boriack of San Antonio, TX and John Boriack of Austin, TX, along with two brothers, Leroy Boriack of Corpus Christi, TX and Newton Boriack of Bellville, TX.
Jerry was preceded in death by his mother, Adele Bertha Michalk and his father, Adolf Arthur Boriack, and stepmother Marie Boriack.
The family would like to thank all the wonderful caregivers from Houston Hospice that provided such love and support.
Celebration of Life services will be held at Tallowood Baptist Church @ 1:00pm on Monday, December 2nd, 2019. In lieu of flowers, the family would request donations be made to Houston Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
