Janice Leslie

October 9, 1930 — August 27, 2019

Janice Marie Leslie, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend died August 27th, 2019. She was born October 9, 1930, in Rolla, Missouri to Mark and Lila Everhard.

She is survived by her loving and faithful husband, John, to whom she was married 67 years, her son John II and wife Mary, her son Mark and wife Tracey, her son Douglas and wife Susanne, grandchildren Julia, Melissa, Jason, Jenna, Paige, and six great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Anne and Kay, and brother Paul.

Janice graduated from the University of Tulsa, Oklahoma and spent several years teaching school before devoting her time helping her husband to raise their three sons. Her greatest love was her family and she cherished the many years spent with them. She loved the times they had family dinners and the boys would tell of stories during the times they were growing up, many of which she didn't recall because they managed to keep these stories from her. She was blessed by having many friends and shared many memories and good times with them.

She worked with her husband, John, in their business, The Leslie Corporation, for 23 years and continued to work with her son, John II, for several additional years. Janice loved to travel with John and they traveled extensively. She shared many happy times with him while he was writing his books, sharing thoughts and dreams. They talked many times about how fortunate they were to have such a happy marriage.

She cherished her membership in the "M&M" group that met every Tuesday night in a Mexican restaurant for Margaritas and Mexican food, thus the name "M&M." The members are a loving, caring group of people with diverse backgrounds that shared concerns and love for one another. She was also a member of a group of women called the "The Awesome Seven," seven women who originally met in Kansas City, MO while raising their children. They later lived in different parts of the country, but continued to meet every year for their reunion, taking turns to host the group. They shared their belief in God and their concerns for one another.

Janice had been a member of Northwoods Presbyterian Church, Houston, since 1973. She spent many years working in various programs of the church including Lay Pastors, Second Family Care Team, and the Golden Gathering. She loved her church and the many friends she had there.

She was a member of the Blue Bird Circle of Houston, Texas since 1994.She worked as a volunteer in the Blue Bird Clinic at Texas Childrens' Hospital and the Blue Bird Circle Resale Shop.

Janice was the sweetest, kindest lady who touched many hearts. Her warm and outgoing nature will be missed. Her wishes were that in lieu of flowers, please send donations to Northwoods Presbyterian Church (3320 Cypress Creek Pkwy. Houston, TX 77068) or the Blue Bird Circle (615 West Alabama, Houston, TX 77006-5003).
