Obituary

Jacqy Leoth Wise, of Cypress Texas, 56, passed March 06, 2026 surrounded by her loved ones. Born on January 13, 1970, in Goma, Democratic Republic of Congo, to Leocadie Kankindi and Tharcisse Shumbusho Hitimana. She was the fifth of nine children in a large and loving family.

Jacqy began her education at École Primaire Virunga Nord before continuing her studies at Collège Mwanga. She later attended the Université de Goma, where she studied Management, continuing to pursue her education and prepare for her future. Her dedication to learning reflected her strong desire to build a better life for herself and her family.

Jacqy dedicated part of her professional life to public service. She worked with the Direction Générale de Migration under the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Democratic Republic of Congo, serving in both Goma and Lubumbashi.

In 1999, conflict in the region following the Rwandan genocide, which spilled over into eastern Congo, forced many families to flee their homes in search of safety. During this time, Jacqy made the difficult decision to leave her homeland. As a refugee, she arrived in the United States of America, where she would begin rebuilding her life and creating new opportunities for her family. Starting over in a new country was not easy, but she faced each challenge with determination, faith, and resilience. Guided by her deep trust in God, she worked hard to create stability and opportunity for her family.

One of Jacqy’s greatest dreams was to have a big family. She is survived by her daughters Christelle Tambwe, Christy Hitimana, Chelsea Holy, Leatrice “Casey” Houston, Shalom Wise, Marie Joelle Munachebe and her sons Christian Tambwe and David Christopher Wise. She is also survived by her six siblings: Beatrice Mukantabana, Annie Uwamaliya, Thérèse Hitimana, Jean Claude Mbogoye, Donathile Kanshara, and Kizito Hitimana. She is further survived by her best friend Sylvie Brown and her daughters Sarafina Bugeya and Chanselle Bibomba. Her home and everywhere she went was full of life, laughter, and love. Her journey stands as a powerful reminder of what courage, determination, and a mother’s love can create.

Though she is no longer with us, her love remains in our hearts forever.

Until We Meet Again.
