Harry Wilkinson Jr., born June 30, 1930, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Sunday, June 1, 2025, surrounded by loved ones in Houston, Texas.
Harry was born to Virginia and Harry Sr. in Richmond Heights, Missouri. Growing up in Missouri, Harry loved to fish, hunt and explore with his cousin Danny. In high school he ran track and earned a scholarship to Princeton. Harry graduated in 1948 NROTC and joined the Navy. Serving his country in the Korean war, he was stationed in many areas including Long Beach California, the Philippines and Japan. After the Navy he attended Harvard Business School which led to a lifelong career as a business owner, consultant and professor.
Harry loved to tell stories and make people laugh as the life of the party. He enjoyed many activities from fishing to camping with his daughters and card games with his parents and friends.
In 1958 he married Sara Beth, and they lived in various east coast areas such as Massachusetts, New York, Washington, DC and finally settled down in Houston, TX. They enjoyed traveling, entertaining and attending Rice football games, Astros games, multiple symphony and opera performances.
Harry was a loving and devoted son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend. His generous heart, contagious laugh and big smile will be missed. Harry was an inspiration and a blessing to all who crossed his path over the years.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew. He is survived by his wife, daughters, son-in-law, grandchildren, sister and brother-in-law.
Harry’s life will be celebrated on Thursday, June 26, 2025, with a memorial service at First Presbyterian Church, 5300 Main Street, Houston, TX 77006 at 9:30 am followed by full military honor service to be conducted at 11:15 am at the Veterans National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the American Red Cross, VFW or American Lung Association.
