Halley Dee Lady

Halley Dee Lady, 47, of Houston, Texas, passed away on September 5, 2025. A resident of the Westheimer and Beltway 8 area, she was known to dear friends as Britney, a free spirit blazing through life like Halley’s comet.

Born in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Halley spent many years in Philadelphia and Nashville before finding her true home in Houston. An artistic soul, she enjoyed painting, often choosing to bring beauty into the world by using unlikely materials and presentations, recently discovering culinary illustration. She also loved fashion, cosmetic arts, a beach day with a pack of Skittles, and gardening at the home she shared with boyfriend Ralph Brown and Mr. Kitty, where they enjoyed many homemade waffles together.

As the oldest of 5 siblings, Halley loved her family. In her childhood they went on many adventures around New England, where she discovered a love of driving manual transmissions. Well known for arranging mischievous pranks, she particularly enjoyed tricking her brothers with crazy food concoctions, dressing her sisters up in wild 80s fashion, and introducing them all to various types of music and dance. Music was a long-time love of Halley’s, and she was deeply moved by themes of women’s strength, resilience, and independence in the face of hardship. Some of her favorite songs include “Bluebird,” by Miranda Lambert, Boom Boom’s “Philly My Street,” and RAYE’s “Ice Cream Man.” As an adult and mother, the music continued. Park days, ice cream outings, and coordinating bedazzled outfits and elaborate hairstyles for her girls were among her favorite memories of motherhood.

Halley is survived by her beloved daughters, Samarah, Briannah, and Eleah, of South Carolina, and her granddaughter, Charlie Haven; her mother, Kalley Lady-Muirhead of Denver, CO; her father Timothy Lady of Johnson City, TN; her stepfather, Scott (Rose Mary) Muirhead of Franklin, TN; her siblings David (Casey) Muirhead of Denver, CO; Morgan (Lindsay) Muirhead of College View, TN; Bronwyn Muirhead of New Orleans, LA; Paige (Thomas) Sullivan of Nashville, TN; and Breen Halley of West Palm Beach, FL. Halley will be remembered with love and compassion by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends in west Houston, including Scott Basinger, Fife, and Mr. Lee.

Halley was a legend. Shine on, you crazy diamond.
