Gregory Thompson Smith, 56, passed away March 9, 2024 at home peacefully with his wife and son by his side.
Greg was born May 17, 1967 in Houston, Texas to Tommy and Carol Smith. Greg was a graduate of Lamar Consolidated High School. After graduation, he attended University of Texas and Stephen F. Austin. It didn't take him long to realize that the computer business was in his blood. He began working for CRS of Texas in 2000, which is now known as HungerRush, and was with them until his passing.
Greg is survived by his wife Sharon of 27 years, his son, Andrew Smith, his step daughter Lauren Garcia and husband Marcus Garcia, his brother in law, Charles Rice. He is also survived by his mother, Carol Smith, sister, Ginger Strothers, neice, Megan Leyja, nephew, Justin Strothers, sister in law, Amanda Roberts and husband, David Roberts. He is blessed to have two grandchildren, Macy and Luke Garcia, a great nephew, Mylo Leyja, as well as a niece, Stephany Roberts and a nephew, Randall Roberts.
He is preceeded in death by his father, Leonard Thompson Smith (Tommy).
A Celebration of Life for Greg will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at St. John's United Methodist Church at 400 Jackson Street, Richmond, Texas 77469 at 1 pm. Rev. Jeff Gantz will be officiating with a reception to follow at Wendt Hall at the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The American Cancer Society or St. John's United Methodist Church.
