Gilmarie Crowley

Gilmarie Crowley, age 47 passed peacefully on Thursday evening, May 2, 2024, after a long battle with Liver Cancer. She left while in the arms of her beloved husband with her devoted sister at her side. Her children were called in for a goodnight kiss just prior.

She graduated from the University of Puerto Rico and ultimately went to work for American Eagle Airlines, as a flight attendant based in Puerto Rico where she met and fell in love with her future husband Joshua Crowley, who was an airline pilot flying for the same airline.  They were married in Dallas-Fort Worth on May 28, 2011.

She became the loving stepmother to Joshua’s son Conner. She then bore two children, Aiden Cade, (10) and Ashlynn Sofia (6). Her children were the light of her life.

She has always had devout faith in God, demonstrated by her willingness to serve others. Throughout her illness she utilized her faith in Christ to pull her through each day.

Gilly developed many friendships throughout her life and was loved by all who knew her. She had a smile that would light up a room. In the community she served on the Leadership Team of the local chapter of MOPS (Mothers of Pre-Schoolers) International for 5 years. The organization focuses on faith, fun, lifestyle, relationships, and wellness. Her latest position was Hospitality Chair. She poured her hospitable heart into overseeing those members in need, organizing meals, and lessening the burdens of others. Cards and remembrances were sent to members as well.

Gilly or Gilma as she was known by many of her friends was very creative. She taught herself to bake beautifully decorated cakes. She would have her children choose a birthday theme and then created a special cake, along with elaborate decorations. She enjoyed cooking, including her Puerto Rican favorites for every day eating and special occasions. She found joy in surprising people.

Her home was decorated for every holiday. At Christmas time she always bought matching outfits or pajamas for her family photo Christmas card. She would choose the perfect venue and background for every picture and the family always got to do a silly photo at the end where she participated in pulling silly faces making her children erupt in laughter.  Her sense of humor was contagious. At Halloween the family always shared a themed costume for parties and trick-or-treating. One year Josh was a Beekeeper and she and Ashlynn were bee’s and Aiden appeared as Bumblebee from the Transformer movie.

She was just getting started in Memory Keeping, collecting her supplies to create albums. She loved taking photographs of every event in her children’s lives.

Gilmarie was a health-conscious individual who loved learning holistic ways of caring for herself and her family. She was a doTERRA Essential Oil Wellness Advocate and once wore a T-shirt that stated, “I have an oil for that”.

She is preceded in death by her older sister Evelyn Berdecia.

She is survived by her loving husband, Joshua, her children, sons; Conner, and Aiden and daughter; Ashlynn.  Parents, mother; Maria Santiago Rivera, father; Gilberto Colon Robles, sister; Ineabel Berdecia, sister; Jesennia Tovar (Hector), brother; Ricky Berdecia (Ana), in-laws, Shirley and Nick Crowley, and many adoring nieces, nephews, and family.
