George Wang passed away peacefully on March 21, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories with family and friends.
George was a devoted husband, father, brother, and uncle. He loved to travel, often taking his family on fun trips to various places, creating many fond and unforgettable memories. He was also known for his generosity and deep devotion to his family, taking great care of his mother and grandmother in their later years. He is survived by his beloved wife, daughter, brother, sister-in-law, sister, nephews, nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces. His presence in their lives was a source of strength, love, and unwavering support.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother, grandmother, brother and sister, all of whom he held close in his heart throughout his life.
George's educational journey began at Tsai Hsin Elementary School in Taiwan, where he made many lifelong friends from the time they were five years old. Growing up together and sharing their formative years, George was the one his friends could always count on. He was friendly to everyone, effortlessly building connections, and deeply loyal to those he called friends. He had a strong sense of fairness. If anyone was treated unjustly, he would be the first to step forward and stand by them. That courage and loyalty defined who he was. At the same time, he brought warmth and joy into every social gathering. He loved being surrounded by friends. What made George especially unique was his remarkable memory and the way he cherished shared experiences. It was George who helped bring many of the elementary school classmates back together after decades apart, organizing the unforgettable reunion in Los Cabos, Mexico in 2004-where classmates reunited after more than 30 years. The following year, George and Michelle’s wedding became another beautiful gathering; bringing even more of classmates to celebrate in joy.
George moved to Brazil in 1967, where he first attended a Brazilian middle school. During this time, he became fluent in Portuguese and also spoke French. He later graduated from Chapel (Mary Immaculate) High School in the class of 1973. He was a prominent student and a first string player on the varsity basketball team. A mathematical genius, he once beat an early version computer, which he did in his head without writing anything down. George was one of the few students who had a car, and so he was involved in almost everything: school events, social events, trips to the beach and various adventures to places in Brazil. He had a very friendly and jovial personality and was popular with those who knew him. George maintained friendships throughout the decades with classmates and others at Chapel. His passing has generated an outpouring of love and friendly remembrances.
George went on to earn his Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Northwestern University. During his college years, he had a car and greatly enjoyed the freedom it brought, spending wonderful times with his friends and creating lasting memories.
George spent the entirety of his professional career in the Sulfuric Acid Industry. He started with Stauffer Chemical’s Hammond (eventually Eco-services), Indiana plant after graduating from Northwestern University in 1977. He moved to Houston in 1980 and remained there throughout his career. George was not only the most knowledgeable Eco- services engineer ever employed, he genuinely cared about the people and their safety. He was relentless in his attempt to get his plants to operate safely and efficiently. Even though he retired 10 years ago, he continually gave many colleagues free advice. He was well respected and cherished by all who knew him.
Those who worked with him knew to him say: “You call yourself an engineer? “. That was George’s way to motivate employees to use their training and experiences to solve problems. It worked. He had an overwhelming effect on the development of many, not only as engineers but as people who all looked out for each other. He will be missed more than can be said.
George will be remembered for his strong yet gentle spirit, his dedication to family, and the meaningful connections he built with those around. His love and guidance will continue to live on in the lives of those who knew and loved him.
A service to honor George's life will be held at Integrity Funeral Care on April 3, 2026, at 3 PM. Those who knew and cherished George are welcome to attend and celebrate his remarkable life.
