Emma Lee Turrentine (Morrow) passed from this life into the next on February 24, 2022. Born May 29, 1941 in Grand Prairie, Texas, Emma devoted each day to her family and her God. A faithful member of Bible Baptist Church for 37 years, she started playing the piano on Sunday mornings when she was just eight years old. No doubt those decades of practice paid off when she got to heaven and was called upon to accompany the choir of angels.
A natural caretaker, she had the unique and remarkable ability to make everyone around her feel safe and at home. Whatever arose–triumph or trial–she took it in stride. She handled conflict with grace, tension with humor and suffering with love. And, even though she shared her recipes, she was the only one who ever managed to perfect the coconut cream pies and fudge her family loved so much.
She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Clyde Turrentine, and their five children, Randy Turrentine, Cheri Kysar, Mike Turrentine, Scott Turrentine (Maurine) and Cindy Martin; her sisters Betty Clark and Myrtle Harlow; nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Velma Irene Morrow, her sister, Alice Allen and her grandson, Michael Turrentine.
While her family and loved ones miss her more than we could ever express, it is a great comfort to know that her mind, body and spirit are finally at peace and she is rejoicing with her Lord and Savior.
A viewing will be hosted March 2nd at Bible Baptist Church–2105 Wilson Road from 10-12 PM followed by a memorial service from 12-1 PM. She will be buried at Rosewood Cemetery after the services.
n lieu of flowers, Emma's family welcomes you to donate to Bible Baptist Church.
