Joyce and Douglas Stewart, married and deeply in love 54 years, left this world together just two days apart at their beloved home, side by side, hand in hand. Joyce passed peacefully early on Tuesday, June 2, 2026 and Doug not wanting to be anywhere his sweetie wasn’t, passed early on Thursday, June 4, 2026. Although they will be missed dearly we are comforted they are together once again.

Joyce Gail Stewart was born October 8, 1942 to Anna Jewel and Garett William Roberts. Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, and sister Cathy Henrichs. She leaves behind her brother Gary, his wife Jeanette, and her sister Dee Anna and her husband Rick Wimberley. Joyce was a literal JOY to those who knew her and those who didn’t. She was an accomplished pianist and organist. She served happily in church in many capacities, and at her children’s schools. In her early 20’s Joyce served her entrepreneurial spirit as owner of her own piano studio where she had close to 100 piano students. She loved greatly her role as a mother and a wife. She always worked hard making their house a home, keeping Doug on task for his many roles in the church and as baseball and softball coach for their two children. She was always an eternal optimist and genuinely joyful always. She never turned down a late night phone call from someone in need. She was a servant through and through.

Douglas Raymond Stewart was born April 18,1942 to Rose Mae and Irwin Leon Stewart. Doug is preceded in death by his parents. He leaves behind his brother Irwin, his wife Sue, his sister Janet, her husband Don, and his sisters Rosemary and Marjorie. Doug was a force to be reckoned with- meaning his presence was felt before he ever spoke a word. Doug was determined and directive in all things. He served in the Marine Corps- despite his mother’s wishes. He enjoyed his time traveling the world in what he called the best division of the military…the United States Marine Corps. Hoorah! He never strayed from leadership but looked for opportunities to lead. He ran for state representative, missing it by just a few votes. He served diligently in many callings for the church. His favorite, he said, working along side his wife at the Houston temple. Despite the many hours of his work, his countless hours devoted to his callings in the church, he still made time to coach his son in baseball and his daughter in softball. He and his wife Joyce had such big hearts for their family and serving others.

Joyce and Doug have 3 children whom they love immensely…Randy, Joseph, and Rebecca. They were also so proud of their 14 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren, including one due soon.

Joyce and Doug valued their personal family, their church family, and countless others considered as family. Their door was never closed to anyone. They had a beautiful and devoted love story spanning more than 50 years! Where one went the other followed. Always together. Always one. Thus, leaving this world together makes perfect and harmonious sense. Joyce and Doug are together for all time and eternity
