Dixiana Brown

Dixiana Kennington Brown peacefully passed away on December 3, 2022, in Houston. Born January 17,1931, in New Boston, Texas, She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years George Brown, parents, Thomas Watson and Elva Mae Kennington, brothers Joe Tom, Milas, John, Watson and Gordon Kennington, and sisters Yvonne Kennedy and Mary Shove.

Survivors include her sister Anita Buchmeyer (Sam); devoted children and grandchildren, son Austin Brown of Austin; daughters Mary Cardwell of Austin, Caroline Brown of Tulsa, and Dixiana Forrester of Houston; grandsons Hillary Cardwell (Magdalena) of Wiesbaden, Germany, George Forrester (Jiluxsa) of Pleasant Hills, California, Sam Forrester of Houston, and Mason Crowell of Austin; granddaughters Jasmine Tritico Jimenez (Guillermo) and Chelsea Pickett of Houston, Emily Cluck and Laura Jackson (Clint) of Tulsa, and Elizabeth Crowell of Austin; and great-granddaughters Lauren Jimenez of Houston, Lucy Jackson and Quinn Jackson of Tulsa and Penelope Cardwell of Wiesbaden, Germany and great-grandson Diego Jimenez of Houston.

Dixiana received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, AR and was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma sorority. She taught elementary school for 29 years with the last 20 years in Katy Independent School District. She retired in 1988 and began her hobby china painting and was a member of the Porcelain Arts Club in Houston. She was also a member of the Eastern Star.

The family would like to thank Providence Charter Hospice for the care she received these past few years and would especially like to thank Sandra Hunt, RN and Verlenthia Buchanan for the care they gave her.

The family will have a Celebration of Life on December 27, 2022 from 2-4 pm at her home.
