David Alan Wyborny was called home to be with the Lord on September 4, 2023, in Houston Texas. David is the son of Leigh and Karen (Williams) Wyborny, and was born on November 25, 1962, in Iowa City, IA. He attended Kindergarten in Coralville. IA. The first Semester of 1st grade in Iowa City, IA and the 2nd Semester in Fridley, MN. The Wyborny family moved to Houston, TX in August of 1970 where David attended Sutton Elementary. He transferred to Braeburn Baptist Academy when it opened and graduated with honors.
While in high school David worked for his school as a Janitor and later in ground maintenance for Santhas Inc. While at Southwestern University he worked for food catering service at the school and during the summer for Target stocking the shelves. While in Law School David worked for the Law Firm of RB Searcy.
David graduated from Southwestern University in Business and later from the University of Houston Law Center with a Doctor of Jurisprudence May 1989. He joined the State Bar of Texas on May 4, 1990.
David was mentored in criminal law by Paul Mewis. They left many fond memories and news articles of their antics. Later David established his own criminal law practice.
David was a member of Braeburn Baptist Church (Houston) which became Oak Lake Baptist Church (Sugar Land) and had been a member of 2nd Baptist Church for a couple of years. At Oak Lake David became a teacher of the senior adult class (JOY) and leader of the Wednesday evening service. One of the highlights of his life was to be Ordained to teach the Gospel of Jesus Christ by his church.
David is preceded in death by a brother (1964) and son Joseph (2021).
David is survived by his parents Leigh and Karen Wyborny, brother James, son Charles (Linda), grandsons Kaden, Carter, and Lucas and many family members.
A special thanks to Nancy Hernandez (cousin) and Hope (the mother of David’s sons) for extraordinary care.
A celebration of David’s life will be held at Oak Lake Baptist Church, 15555 W. Airport Blvd, Sugarland TX 77498 at 2 pm on September 23, 2023 with Pastor John Moore officiating.
Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Plymouth, Iowa.
