Obituary

Mr. David Khang Tran passed away peacefully on June 19, 2026 in Houston, Texas, at the age of 96 at Houston Methodist West Hospital. His daughter Elizabeth, son Charlie, daughter-in-law Cindy were all by his side during his final hours. David was born on November 24, 1929, in Thai Bình, Vietnam. He dedicated much of his life serving God and others through education and ministry. From 1955 to 1973, he worked as an educator with the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), then the Ministry of Education and later Rehabilitation Center. From 1973 to 1975, he served as an English–Vietnamese interpreter for the Assembly of God before immigrating to the United States in 1975. After settling in the United States, David worked as a teacher’s aide in Chicago, Illinois, from 1975 to 1978. He and his family later moved to Houston, Texas, where he worked in shipping and receiving for TXT Company from 1979 until his retirement in 1994. During retirement, he continued serving his community as an independent English–Vietnamese interpreter and enjoyed traveling with missionary groups to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ. David found great joy in reading, writing, singing, playing the pedal steel guitar and keyboard, listening to Christian and gospel music and spending time at the community center with friends. His favorite artists were Elvis, Nat King Cole, Anne Murray and Andy Williams. Everyone who knew David remembers him to be affable, easy going and loved life every minute. Our dad, granddad, uncle, brother will be greatly missed. The third son among six children, David is survived by his family:
