David Wayne Putnam passed away on Monday morning, June 24, 2024, at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Sugar Land, Texas, surrounded by his family. A heart attack in 2021, Stage 4 kidney disease, hemorrhaging esophageal/stomach ulcers, malnutrition and smoking took their toll. David was a carpenter and built kitchens, butler’s pantries, closets and staircases in many custom-built homes in the Jackson, Mississippi area before health issues forced him into retirement. He had many friends who all knew him as someone with a big heart, willing to lend a hand when he was able. In the last few years, it was David who needed a hand, and he was grateful to those who helped him out on many occasions. David is survived by his son Justin Putnam, daughter-in-law Millie Putnam, grandchildren Austin Putnam and Kylie Putnam, sister Sandra Thomas, brother-in-law Tim Thomas, sister Shelley Burge, brother-in-law Donny Burge, 5 nephews and 6 nieces. “Oh, my sorrows, sad tomorrows, take me back to my own home.” You’re home, David.
