David Kovacs

August 5, 1964 — January 25, 2024

David T. Kovacs, age 59, passed away on January 25, 2024, after a sudden illness. Dave was born in Sharon, Pennsylvania to his father David Paul Kovacs and his mother Barbara Ann Weeter. He grew up in Warren, Ohio with his sister Coreen Kovacs and graduated from Howland High School. Afterward he moved to Houston, Texas and relocated to Sugar Land, Texas. He lived most of his later life in Fort Bend County.

Dave made his living as a skilled mechanic and worked for many years in precision sheet metal shops. Outside work, he was an enthusiastic adventurer who lived life to its fullest. He loved to spend his time having fun, enjoying the company of friends, watching horror movies, and playing pinball and arcade games. He enjoyed riding bikes and motorcycles all over the Houston area to his favorite events and places. He had a deep appreciation for nature and spent a lot of his free time camping outdoors or relaxing at Galveston beach. Most of all he really loved live music and spent almost every weekend listening to live bands wherever he could find them.

Dave was a truly beloved father. He had one child, Nicolette Kovacs (Nikki) with his former spouse, Theresa Quinn. He was Nikki’s protector, confidant, and friend. His happiest moments were spent being a dad and sharing his love of nature and adventure with his daughter. Dave always said the most important thing in his life was the people he shared it with.

Dave is preceded in death by his mother and father. He is survived by his daughter Nicolette, his sister Coreen, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A remembrance of Dave’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers or gifts, his family would appreciate for his memory be honored through donations to Texas Parks and Wildlife at: https://tpwd.texas.gov/business/donations/
