Obituary

Darren J. Robertson, 1966–2026

Darren Robertson, of Baytown, Texas, was born in 1966 in Blackwell, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his loving father, Ralph Robertson. He is survived by his mother, Grace Robertson Milligan.

Darren was a proud graduate of La Porte High School in La Porte, Texas, and went on to earn his Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas- an accomplishment that reflected both his intelligence and his strong work ethic. He built a successful career as an engineer, a profession he took great pride in, applying his knowledge, discipline, and problem-solving skills throughout his life.

He honorably served his country in the United States Navy as a Petty Officer First Class with Unit NMCB 40, ALFA Company. Stationed in Port Hueneme, California, Darren served from 1984 to 1989, continuing in the reserves until 1990. Known as “Robby” to his closest friends in the military, he carried the bonds and brotherhood of his service with him throughout his life.

Darren is survived by his sisters, Denise Lewis, (Jack Schaffer), and Diane Snyder ( Norman Snyder) and his brother, Darrell Robertson ( (Mary Joe Robertson). He was a proud father to Sheila Robertson Ybarra (Moses Ybarra), Marsha Robertson, and Cannon Robertson, and a loving grandfather to Austin Ontiveros, Skylar Bantz, and Kaimen Alvarado. His love continues through his great-granddaughter, Emma Edwards.

He also leaves behind his cherished nieces, Courtney Lewis Steinfeld and Kelsey Anderson. Darren’s love extended far beyond blood—he was a father figure to many and held a special place in his heart for Amanda LaValle, Joseph “Adam” LaValle, and Bailey Cavness, loving them as his own. He was also a proud godfather to Kairi Purvis.

Darren was a man defined by integrity, loyalty, and grit. He believed in hard work, standing by his word, and the kind of handshake that meant everything. He expected the same honesty and respect in return. He was a devoted friend, a protector, and someone people could always count on.

In his free time, Darren found joy in fishing, hunting, boating, and traveling. He loved being outdoors, collecting, cooking for those he cared about, and spending time with his beloved dog, Bear. His love for his country ran deep, and so did his faith—he was a member of Faith Family Church and love to attend with his family. His favorite organizations were the Freedom Group and Rise Up Kings where he created strong bonds with the men there.

Darren lived a life full of purpose, strength, and love. His presence was larger than life, and his impact will be felt for generations to come.

Funeral services honoring the life of Darren J. Robertson will be held on May 1, 2026 at St. Francis Episcopal Church. Services will include full military honors.
