Cynthia Acosta, 68, passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at her home with her family.
Cynthia or “Cindy” was born November 10, 1955 to Marcelina S. and Primo S. Acosta at St. Joseph’s
hospital in Houston, Texas. She lived in Houston her entire life, primarily in the Oak Forest neighborhood.
Cindy attended S.P. Waltrip High School and graduated in 1974. Her professional career was highlighted
by 28 years of service for the US Postal Service much where she joined her father and sister as
employees.
Cindy’s life took a turn in 1980 when she was involved in a tragic car accident with her sister Beatrice
Acosta resulting in the loss of a kidney. The accident affected her health, but not her outlook on life.
When Beatrice suffered an untimely death, the family was heartbroken. Cynthia took over the role of
grandmother for Bea’s grandson, Primo Hernandez. Primo was her pride and joy since she was not able
to have children of her own. Cyndi fought a number of illnesses in her lifetime and in the end decided
she could no longer keep up the good fight.
Our family would like to thank the DaVita center where Cynthia and her father Primo were treated for
many years. We also extend a deep appreciation to all the doctors and nurses at Methodist that treated
her and will be forever grateful for the support and kindness shown to her.
She is survived by sisters, Anita Palomares and Petra Guerrero, husband Gilbert Guerrero. Nieces, Jessica
Acosta and Marcelina Guerrero, husband Stuart Brown. Nephews, Anthony Palomares, Jesse and wife,
Vinda Winata-Guerrero, Aaron and wife, Astrid Cardona-Acosta. And special grandson-nephew Primo
Hernandez. She is preceded in death by her parents, Marcelina and Primo, sister Beatrice and nephew
Jason A. Gonzales.
