Clyde Wayne Turrentine passed from this life into the next on March 24, 2023. Born July 10, 1940 in Houston, Texas, Clyde was one of the founding members of Aldine's first fire department in the late 1960s. His wife, Emma, worked as a dispatcher for the young department. Each time the red "fire phone" rang at the house, she would call the list of volunteers to respond. With just one family car, Clyde would occasionally borrow his children's bicycles to get to fires. He rose in the department's ranks, eventually taking on the role as chief.
Later, even after his time in the department came to an end, Clyde continued serving in the emergency services field. He worked for the EMS companies Harris County Emergency Corp., Delta Amb., Allyn Ambulance, Allyn/HouTex Ambulance, Alliance Ambulance, Acadian Ambulance and Crossroads EMS.
He is survived by his five children, Randy Turrentine, Cheri Kysar, Mike Turrentine, Scott Turrentine (Maurine) and Cindy Martin; nine grandchildren, and a number of great and great-great grandchildren with more on the way.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Emma Lee Turrentine, his parents, Olin Clyde Turrentine and Doris Simmons, his sister, Mary Moore and his grandson, Michael Turrentine.
A viewing will be hosted April 1st at Bible Baptist Church–2105 Wilson Road in Humble from 10-12 PM followed by a memorial service from 12-1 PM. He will be buried at Rosewood Cemetery after the services.
In lieu of flowers, Clyde's family welcomes you to donate to Bible Baptist Church.
