Clay M. Cox passed away in the early hours of Saturday, 18 July, surrounded by loved ones. At age 64, he was preceded in death by his parents, Lavaughan and Laverne Cox.
Clay was born in Marietta, GA on 14 April 1962 and spent happy years growing up in Memphis, TN alongside his brother Michael and sister Pam. Excelling in school and sports at Glenmore Academy, Clay then attended Memphis State University to play football for the Tigers. He carried his love of the Tigers – and hatred for Ole Miss – to his dying days.
Clay met the love of his life while attending university. Stacie (nee Lowry) took a shine to Clay while cutting his hair. They went on their first date on St. Patrick’s Day and married a year later in 1983. Over the next 43 years, they built a life and family together hopping around the country chasing the next adventure. Their greatest joys (and stresses) in life came from their three sons Brandon, Bryan, and Bradley – The Killer B’s. Clay poured all of his time, money, and efforts into ensuring their success.
Clay had an accomplished career spanning four decades. Beyond success in business, he cherished the relationships he built, the winning cultures he cultivated, and the leaders he mentored through the years.
Clay enjoyed landscaping, gardening, grilling, and any sport, game, or competition that gave him one more chance to win. He especially treasured the company of his in-laws, Bob and Louise Lowry, and a lifetime of memories with their large family.
Clay is survived by his wife Stacie and their children’s families: Brandon, Lindsay, Tyson, and Morgan; Bryan, Natalie, Lachlan, and Callahan; and Bradley, Madison, and little Magnolia expected in October.
