Carolyn Joyce (Patterson) McCorkle, of Houston, Texas died Friday, April 22, 2022, after a brief stay in the hospital.
Carolyn was born in New Salem, Indiana on May 22, 1940, as the second of five children born to Paul and Nola Patterson. She graduated from Carthage High School in May of 1958 and married Robert McCorkle on June 7 of the same year. They were married until his death in 2012.
Moved to Houston with her family in 1982 and was proud to be a Texan but Indiana was always home. After raising her family, Carolyn went back to school to earn her Licensed Vocational Nursing Certificate and worked as a caring nurse for 20 years before retiring in 2002.
She will be remembered for her smile, kindness, being "Mom" to many, ability to make everyone feel welcome, favorite blue robe, always looking for a new recipe, and her deviled eggs. She loved to travel, look at pictures and read updates on Facebook, visit family, eat out, Disney, celebrate all holidays and birthdays, and talk about her grandchildren. She was proud of her family, faith, and kids but most proud of her six grandkids.
She is survived by her children; Robert (Maria) McCorkle, Stephanie McCorkle, Michael McCorkle, and Kristine McCorkle Hollmann; Grandchildren; Isabella, Abigail, Meghan, Jesse, Griffin, and Jordan. Her sisters; Barbara (Eldon) Plank and Kay (Charles) Miller. Brother; Richard Patterson. Sister-in-law; Suzanne Patterson. Carol (Jack) Snyder, Donna (DelMonte) Wagner, and a bunch of cousins, nieces, and nephews that she loved to hear about.
Mrs. McCorkle was preceded in death by her husband; Robert E. McCorkle. Parents; Paul and Nola Patterson; Brother Gene Patterson; Sister-in-law Carol Patterson; Son-in-law Randall Hollmann and infant son, Timothy.
