Brandon Dillon Oliver passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on June 30, 2023, at the age of 35 after suffering over 10 years with mental illness. My heart is shattered but he is finally at peace.
Brandon was known for his charismatic personality; he loved to talk and tell his stories about all his adventures. There was never a stranger when Brandon was around. He loved a hot cup of coffee and long conversations with his “Papa”. Brandon loved to cook! He always preferred intimate gatherings where he would do the cooking for family and friends. Brandon also loved flowers, he would spend hours with his “Mema” working in her green houses and assisting her with her gardening. On hot days, you would catch Brandon in public libraries reading everything he could get his hands on, he was an avid reader and especially loved sci-fi thrillers. Most of all, Brandon worshipped his big brother, Ben. From the start, he followed him around, always wanting to hang with the “big kids.”
He is survived by his mother, Altha (Ali) Oliver, his brother, Benjamin Oliver, and an extended family that loved him dearly.
In lieu of flowers consider a donation to NAMI of greater Houston in honor of Brandon. NAMI is an organization that helps individuals and family members struggling with mental illness.
Brandon will be remembered in a private family memorial on July 8, 2023, at his grandmother’s home in DeRidder, Louisiana.
