Alfred Alexander Moissinac Jr., known affectionately as Al, passed away on February 3, 2024 at the age of 91 in Houston, Texas. Born December 21,1932 in Clifton, New Jersey to Alfred A Moissinac Sr. and Ida Choban. 

 

Joined the Navy during the Korean War in the Construction Battalion known as Seabees where he was stationed in Pensacola, Florida. Al enjoyed his work as a Construction Superintendent so much that he retired 3 times and kept going back to work until he really retired at 83. His early construction years he had a custom home building business in New Jersey. Al built many buildings including a home for his family in New Jersey, a bridge, a toll booth, city park and refurnished a court house in Houston.

 

If you knew Al you knew he could not sit still and therefore had many hobbies. Some of the things he enjoyed were taking cruises, 40 of them to be exact, they became VIPs on several cruise lines. He also loved polka dancing which is where he met the love of his life Lorene, to whom he was married for 42 years. They traveled all over Texas, New Jersey and even Polka cruises just to enjoy that Polka music. Al even danced at his granddaughter’s wedding a few months ago. Al made many stained glass pieces which are proudly hung in his home. He loved his dogs and had many stories about all of them. Al never ate a McDonald’s hamburger!

 

Al was proceeded in death by his wife Lorene, father Alfred A Moissinac Sr, mother Ida Choban, son Alfred A Moissinac III, sister Margaret Kowal and brother Ronald Moissinac. Survived by his daughter, stepdaughter Kathy Edworthy and husband Charles, stepson Michael Costello and partner Bill Milligan, granddaughter Rachel Hopkins and husband Patrick, grandson Barrett Edworthy and Abby Gomez.

 

Funeral services will be held March 7, 2024 at 1:30 at the Houston National Cemetery,10401 Veterans Memorial Dr. Houston, Texas 77038. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to Shriner's Children’s in Al’s memory.
