Delton Hill

May 7, 1936 — May 26, 2021

This beautiful angel, Delton Bostic Hill, age 85, left her Earthly home in Houston, Texas on May 26, 2021 to join her Heavenly Father after a 22-month battle with cancer.  Ever faithful and brave, she continued to teach by her grace throughout her illness.

Del was born in Fall City, Alabama on May 7, 1936, named after her father, who died before she was born.  As a young woman, she moved to Birmingham and worked in auto sales and as a hand model for a jewelry store.  After marriage, she worked for the Dean of Students at the University of Alabama.  Family life took her Sacramento, New Orleans, Huntsville, Alabama and Arlington, Virginia before settling in the Clear Lake area of Houston, Texas in 1969.

Del’s warm heart had no boundaries as she was genuinely curious and interested in people, their thoughts, and experiences.  Conversations with strangers were common and making friends laugh, feel comfortable and appreciated, made her happy.  She loved sports of all kinds, especially football (Roll Tide and Hook ‘Em Horns she’d cheer), golf (a proud member of Arnie’s Army) and horse racing.  She loved that her birthday often fell on Derby Day and attending the Preakness in 1995 was a fairytale day for her.

Del worked for many years in residential real estate while raising a family and later, commercial real estate deals allowed her to travel to London, Abu-Dhabi, and Dubai, but her most treasured trips were those with her best friend and daughter, Kim.  Whether their adventures were to Vegas (first trip was Kim’s 21st birthday), Hawaii, Paris, Lake Charles, Austin, Phoenix (hot air balloon!), Tuscaloosa, Cancun, Lake Tahoe, or to a couch or patio, any time spent together was special.  Del would often say that she would not leave a real legacy, but her gift of love and friendship will last forever for those who knew her.

Del is preceded in death by her mother, stepfather and sister and survived by her brother, Ralph Cater of Jasper, Alabama; daughter Kimberly Hill Mullins (Bob) of Houston, Texas; son Ron Hill (Linda) of Dickinson, Texas; along with extended family, including close friends, which for Del, were always her family.  Kim and Ron’s father, Jimmy Hill of Friendswood, Texas, remained Del’s lifelong friend and an important part of her life.

A small memorial gathering for close friends and family will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests friends consider a donation in Del’s memory to a charity meaningful to you.
