David Pritchard

David Alan Pritchard, 70, of Spring, TX, passed away on May 1, 2023, surrounded by loved ones at home after a decade of challenges due to a spinal cord injury following back surgery.

Dave was born on July 14, 1952, to Leona and David N. Pritchard in Phoenix, AZ. After graduating from Coronado High School in 1970 where he was Senior Class President, he went on to study accounting at Arizona State University. While attending ASU, he met the love of his life, Karen who became his wife of 45 years. They moved to Houston, TX in 1981 for their next adventure and started a family.

Dave never met a stranger – he was personable and friendly, kind and caring, making friends everywhere he went. His proudest accomplishments were his 3 girls, passing the CPA exam, and having a productive Saturday morning (consisting of going for a run, washing all 3 cars, mowing the lawn, and mopping the floor… all before lunch). He was always a busy guy. Dave loved watching sports and eating dessert – as many people knew, the way to his heart was through his stomach.

In more recent years, as Dave became bedbound, it was the relationships with neighbors and caring nurses in addition to family and friends that provided the greatest support network. Dave stayed strong and was a true fighter, surpassing all odds numerous times. He was able to see all his girls get married and start families of their own.

Dave is survived by his wife and caretaker Karen; children, Dr. Megan Pritchard and husband Brian Shreckengost of St. Louis, MO, Jessica (Scott) Parrish of Oklahoma City, OK, and Kirbie (Justo) Sanchez of New Waverly, TX; 4 adorable grandchildren, Hartford Shreckengost, Astrid Parrish, Wyleigh Sanchez, and Tripp Sanchez; and sister Susan Blair.

As we mourn the loss of Dave, we take comfort in knowing that he is now with his Creator in a place of peace and love beyond our understanding. We give thanks for his life and know that his spirit will live on through the memories and love he shared with those around him. A small celebration of life was held on May 19th to honor Dave’s memory.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made to the American Factor V Leiden Association.
